One thousand visas were provided to Tibetans-in-exile as part of H.R. 1340 Tibetan Refugee Assistant Act of 1990.
Although a handful of Tibetans had been living here previously, Colorado welcomed its first batch of Tibetan
re-settlers under the Act in March of 1993. Colorado is now home to over 200 Tibetans who are a living testament
to the future survival of Tibet. The Tibetan Association of Colorado was established in 1997 as a 501(c)(3)
non-profit charitable organization.
